Corbin Bosch Replaces Injured Anrich Nortje in South Africa's Champions Trophy 2025 Squad

South Africa has updated its 15-member squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 as a replacement of fast bowler Corbin Bosch was made for an injured Anrich Nortje, who had been declared unfit due to a recurring back injury.

Nortje is a crucial part of South Africa's pace attack and was ruled out of the tournament because of a re-occurrence of his injury, leaving the Proteas to search for an appropriate replacement for his bowling position.

The selectors have roped in 30-year-old Corbin Bosch to replace him as he debuted internationally last December. Although very young to the international circuit, Bosch has always impressed so far. He has played just one ODI and one Test match, but this is probably his chance to become a household name at the international level.

Maphaka Added as a Reserve

Besides Bosch, South Africa has also listed Kwena Maphaka as travelling reserve for the tournament. To be sure, the young pacer has raw pace and potential and will be available on the sidelines if the further changes are to be made to the roster.

Both Bosch and Maphaka, with batter Tony de Zorzi, will leave for Pakistan on 9 February to join the squad for the rest of their ongoing ODI series before the Champions Trophy begins.

South Africa's Future Matches

February 12 – Pakistan vs South Africa (Karachi)

February 14 – Final (Karachi)

Champions Trophy 2025 - Group Stage Matches

February 21 – Afghanistan vs South Africa (Karachi)

February 25 – Australia vs South Africa (Rawalpindi)

A much-needed replacement comes from Bosch, who will increase the fast-bowling arsenal from South Africa when they head into Champions Trophy in Pakistan. The Proteas will wish to go through in style, at least making a strong bid for their first ICC title since their victory at the 1998 Champions Trophy.
